New Jersey Professional Standards for Teachers and School

Learners:
Standard One: Subject Matter Knowledge
Standard Five: Assessment

This assignment meets the course objective (a) because it is most

important that I follow the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards when I
create assessments. It is important that everything I instruct comes straight
from the CCCS, and the assessments are based off of those lessons.
Assessments also show evidence that the best practices of professional
organization are implemented. Assessments will be clear, direct, and
organized. There are two of NJ Professional Standards that assessments
mainly focus on. The first standard is Subject Matter Knowledge. The second
standard is standard five Assessment. These are both up most important
because I must provide evidence that my assessments were made from
lessons I taught. These standards go hand in hand. I must identify the areas
of the lesson that each student is exceling in, but I must also identify the
areas that they are lacking in. Assessments keep students on track for
improvement, and will be used to keep track of their improvement.
