Response to Current Events
1. Andrew Khan - Clinton E-mail Controversy
Should government officials have to right to privacy to use their own personal e-mail
addresses and not have the information logged in permanent archives for data keeping sake?
Yes, of course they should. E-mail, like any other sort of communication, can contain private
information and every American citizen has the right to privacy. Government officials, however
should conduct all business through regulated and documented e-mail addresses. Government
business should be open to the public, but government officials arent slaves to the system, they
are citizens and humans too.
2. Robert Johnson - UC Irvine Flag Controversy
Dear UCI Chancellor
Concerning the flag, I strongly suggest that it remain standing and it be politely
explained to the offended student that they are in our country, and we will fly our flag how we
please, it is not their place to determine when or where the flag be flown and that if it symbolizes
such terrible things to them, perhaps they shouldnt willingly make the personal decision to
immigrate to a country to learn at a school, funded by that country, that represents so much hate
to them.
