(Clinical),
Location:

Name of preceptor: Dr. Nasreen Kango
Clinical Hours required: 120 hours Clinical Hours completed: 120 hours Type of Experience: Experience gained from this course focused not only on the obstetric and gynecological needs of the woman, but covered the entire health needs of the woman from physical to emotional needs. Experience gained during this clinical rotation was based on understanding the basics in a trustful relationship because women would not share their issues if there is lack of trust in the relationships between the provider and the patient. Dr. Kango emphasized that this is important so that the patient will be open to discuss their medical situation and not feel judged. I experienced and practiced how to assess physiologic changes in gestation, anatomic changes associated with pregnancy, effect of pregnancy on common laboratory test results, understand embryonic and fetal development, especially what does and does not affect the fetus, what is and is not teratogenic as far as medications, and other drugs are concerned, observing and performing pap smear, observing and performing gynecological examination.
