1.

Describe the skills or attributes you believe are necessary to be an outstanding

teacher.
The most important trait of a teacher, I think, is that they want to build a
relationship with every one of their students; they want to see all their students
succeed. In addition to this is strong content knowledge, the ability to differentiate
across achievement levels and backgrounds, innovative and engaging ideas
about teaching, and willingness to take feedback and continue to grow.
2. How would you address a wide range of skills and abilities in your classroom?
To begin, you need to know your students. Every student is different, and theres
no blanket way to differentiate in every classroom. Using your knowledge of your
students, you can prepare scaffolding and specific support for the students who
might struggle in your class. On the other end of the spectrum, you have the
students who need an engaging and challenging extension of the subject youre
covering, so you have to be ready with interesting and open-ended questions for
those students.
3. Briefly describe how you would use technology in your classroom.
There is a plethora of ways that technology can be integrated into a math
classroom. Start simple with using graphing calculators to allow you to build
higher level concepts for every student, even if they struggle with arithmetic.
There are amazing visual and dynamic software programs for every topic in math
that help to bring the subject to life by allowing students to visually connect ideas
and rapidly generate examples to look at. Technologys role in math is to replace
the rote procedures that trip up struggling students and allow them to truly see

the concepts being discussed, as well as allowing high-achieving students to

explore beyond the scope of the lesson, should they so desire.
