Pipes in series and parallel

Problem # 1
Determine the flow in each pipe and the flow in the main pipe if the head loss between A & B
is 2 m & friction factor (F=0.01).

Problem # 2
For the system shown below, determine the flow rate in each pipe. Take the coefficient of
friction F=0.032.
Also, if the two pipes are replaced with one pipe of the same length determine the diameter
which gives the same flow.

Problem # 3
A pipe of diameter 20 cm and length 2000 m connects two reservoirs, having difference of
water levels as 20 m. determine the discharge through the pipe. Take F = 0.06 and neglects
the minor losses.
If an additional pipe of diameter 20 cm and length 1200 m is attached to the last 1200 m
length of existing pipe, find the increase in the discharge.
