Wheel Chair Ramp

By: Taylor M. and Ashley S.

Our Work
To measure our ramp (Ramp B), we used the formula vertical divided by horizontal. For the vertical
part of the ramp, we measured in centimeters and got 55cm. For the horizontal part of the ramp, we
also measured in centimeters and got 595cm. Since we got the measurements needed, we still had to
figure out whether or not the ramp was safe. In order to be safe and allow the disabled person to be
able to go up the ramp without assistance, the ramp slope has to measure 12ft or lower. To get our
slope, we took 595 and divided it by 55 and got 10.9ft. That rounds up to 11ft, which is a good slope for
disabled people to walk up safely.

595cm
55cm

summarize the main points fro paragraph

We basically measured the base and the height

of the ramp (not the sloped side) and got 55cm
for the height and 595cm for the base. We took
595 and divided it by 55, which equaled 10.9ft.
We rounded 10.9 up to 11ft and figured out if it
was safe or not (under 12ft), which it was.

How is there cultural diversity in the project?

Cultural diversity is used in this project by...
we worked in groups, which means that
there could be somebody with a culture in
the group
People in wheelchairs have no use of their
legs, which means that they can feel like they
are their own little community or left out

How This Project Shows Critical Thinking

This project shows critical thinking by...

having to know what you are measuring
know how to figure out your results (if the
ramp is safe or not)

How This project Tech Savvy?

This project is an example of tech savvy by...
we used the chromebooks at school to make
these presentations
We used our phones to take pictures of the
ramps that we measured as groups
We were also able to use our own devices at
home to work on this project.
