God transcends (goes beyond) our existence and understanding.
Who can we liken God to? (v. 18,25)
I. God is great in His creation (supreme and solitary)
A. He is bigger than the physical properties of this world (v. 12)
Consider the scientific principle of Cause and effect.
B. He is wiser than man (v. 13-14).
See Job 38 God alone knows the mysteries and secrets of how this
world works.
C. He considers the nations as nothing (v. 15-17).
The combined resources of mankind have no value to God.
D. He overrules the rulers of the earth (v. 22-23).
Gods hands are not tied by mans actions or inaction.
E. He outlasts the rulers (and people) of the earth (v. 24).
Death is directly assigned to God ("He will...blow on them...")
F. He powers the vast universe (v. 26, 28).
It is orchestrated into an intricate pattern of precision that is upheld by
Jesus (Heb 1:3).
II. God is great because He cares for each created thing.
A. He is transcendent but tender (v. 11).
His infinite knowledge of us leads to His intimate care for us.
B. He is distant but not disinterested (v. 27).
Our way is not hidden from an omnipresent & omniscient God.
C. He is superior but sympathetic and supportive (v. 29-31).
D. He is beyond knowing and yet knowable (v. 21, 28a).
1. Knowing God personally we dont really know God until we know
Him as Savior
2. Knowing Him in depth we grow in our knowledge of God.
God invites us to know Him better.
