FOOD STORAGE AND PREPARATION EQUIPMENT


The Los Angeles County Sober Living Coalition check list requirements for sober living
homes Food Storage and Preparation Equipment are:
1. Are there any signs of roach or other pest infestation problems?
2. Are the kitchen and appliances clean and well maintained?
3. Is there adequate and clean food storage space provided?
FOOD SERVICE Providing a food service could require a county health license and
categorize the home as a boarding house.
There are ways to organize the residents to provide a food service.
Sober living home residents usually purchase, store and prepare their own food. A group
of residents may choose to share their resources and to purchase, store and prepare food
as a family group.
It is recommended that there be at least one refrigerator for each four residents.
It is recommended that there be at least one separate food storage cabinet for each
resident.
Refrigerators temperatures must be between __ and ___ degrees.
Freezer Temperatures must be between ___ and ____ degrees.
One stove is adequate for up to 12 residents.
Two microwaves are adequate for up to 12 residents. One microwave OK for up to 6
residents.
