This is a very short article that very briefly talks about why soccer is not as
popular in the United States as it is in the rest of the world. Countries all over the world
started to implement sports into the country during the late nineteenth century and early
twentieth century. During this period, soccer was growing as a sport everywhere and was
extremely popular and capturing the eye of every country except the United States.
According to Ivan Waddington and Martin Roderick, there is a limited amount of space
for sports in each country, and once a sport is already in the country then there is less
space for other sports. Since football was already the main sport, and baseball and
basketball were huge sports in the country as well, then there was not enough space for
soccer.
This short article is relevant to my inquiry essay because my question is why is
soccer not as popular in the U.S as it is in other countries. I learned that people believe
that there is a limited amount of space for a sport in a country. I agree with the article
because Americans mostly love football, baseball, and basketball. This article did not
make me think different about my inquiry.
This is a credible website because it looks very sophisticated. Also, this website is
an .edu website meaning education, making it more trustable. Also, it is a website ran
by Duke university. I believe this is a credible site.

This article is extremely easy to read because it aims to have the every day person
the audience. It talks about how Australia managed to make soccer a more played sport in
the country, and a sport well supported and love by its citizens. It was a very entertaining
article because I love soccer so I find it interesting to read about soccer things.
Interesting to what the author says about how the MLS could make Americans love
soccer. A couple of the things the author says is the rivalry between the teams and the
fans that support the teams, and how important it is to have good coaches and
sophisticated players.
It is relevant to my inquiry because it gives the reader knowledge on how
Australia made its citizens love soccer which is something the U.S should do so that
Americans love soccer. The author gives some really good examples of what the U.S can
do just like Australia did to make soccer more famous. It was a very interesting article. I
totally agree with the author.

It is a credible source because it is published in The Atlantic which is a good,

credible and reliable source. It is also a very well known website and has very good
articles about many things.

This is an article about why America doesnt love soccer. It is a podcast and this
was one of the episodes conducted by the authors of the podcast. According to this
article, 111.5 million Americans watched Super Bowl XLVIII while only 24.3 million
Americans watch the 2010 World Cup final. A researcher interviewed some people on
what to do in order to make soccer more popular in the U.S. Andrew Luck was one of
them and he said that it would be the National Team winning the World Cup because we
love winners in this country. They also talk why the womens national team has done
better than the mens team.
It looks at why we dont love soccer as much in this country. It is exactly what my
proyect is about and it fits perfectly into my research. It also interviews a professional

football player and asks for his opinion about why we dont love soccer and he makes a
valid point. I totally agree with him on this.
It has journalist asking questions and talking about why we dont love soccer. The
website does not look like a very reliable website. It does have a publisher down at the
bottom and a link that talks about the authors and freakonomics. It could be a reliable
website after all

This article talks about how English are not that good at soccer, and even
managing their teams in the best league out there, the premier league. It says this because
it talks about how the English created soccer and how much they love it even though they
are not that good at soccer anymore. It says that some of the teams in England are
actually owned by americans and that they love the premier league much more than
people think. The article says that big television networks are actually getting more into
soccer because the love for soccer is growing rapidly in the U.S. and how ESPN dropped

NASCAR in order to broadcast more soccer matches here in the country. According to
the author, about 16 million Americans watched the USA match against Ghana, which is
a huge number.
This article was pretty interesting because the author seemed to be mad at other
countries because they say americans dont love soccer. The author was saying that we
love soccer a lot and that it is rapidly growing. I agree that it is growing but I also agree
with everyone else that not a lot of americans love the beautiful game.
This is an article from the famous magazine, Time. Since it is a well known
magazine, an article posted on their website is to be reliable and credible.

This past World Cup was the most watched by Americans ever. This article also
says that Americans do not love soccer, but do love the World Cup. It says that the World
Cup is becoming like Americas new Summer Olympics. It says that the amount of people

that watch the World Cup in America has grown a lot since the World Cup in 2006. It
shows a graph comparing the amount of people who watch other sports events to the
amount of people who watched the game against Ghana. It briefly says that not a lot of
people are watching the MLS games and shows a graph for it. It also says that people
rather watch good games like the games held in England, and that not a lot of people are
watching American soccer outside of the stadiums. Lastly, it says that the reason why
Americans love soccer is because it is very rare and only happens every four years.
I agree that not a lot of people are watching the MLS games because the league is
not that good. It is relevant to my topic because I strnlgy agree that the MLS is not too
good and that is one of the main reasons why americans dont love soccer. My knowledge
on why americans dont love soccer has increased since I started this research.
Like I said before, The Atlantic is a credible and reliable website. It is very well
known so I will for sure use this article in my inquiry essay.
