The Woodstock Comedy Festival is returning for a third year and will host several fundraising events in New York City in May and September. A May 13th benefit at Gotham Comedy Club will feature performers like Tim Cotter and Bonnie McFarlane to raise money for the main September 18-20th festival, which will feature top comedians from across the country. Prior festivals have included Colin Quinn, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Saturday Night Live's Sasheer Zamata. The proceeds will be donated to charities Polaris and Family of Woodstock that support victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. The festival organizer contacted the recipient to discuss writing a news article on the upcoming events.

My name is Sarah Haggerty and I am a Public Relations major at Marist College. I am working with the Woodstock Comedy Festival team to help get the word out on some of our upcoming events. As you may already know, Woodstock Comedy Festival is a 501(3) non-profit corporation with a mission: Comedy for a Cause. This year, we are very excited to announce that we are hosting a fundraiser on May 13th at the Gotham Comedy Club that will benefit our third annual festival being held on September 18-20th. I know that you have written about the Woodstock Comedy Festival in the past for The Daily Freeman News; your article about Mario Cantone performing at the Festival in 2013 was very inspiring and certainly got people excited to attend the Festival. This year, we are holding a benefit for the Woodstock Comedy Festival at Gotham Comedy Club on May 13th in New York City. Comedians such as Tim Cotter, Bonnie McFarlane, Myq Kaplan, Gina Brillon, and other special guests will be performing. Gotham Comedy Clubs Fundraiser will support the Woodstock Comedy Festivals third festival, taking place September 18-20th, when well be presenting the best comedians from around the country to excite and thrill audiences, all while raising money for charity. Woodstock Comedy Festival has in the past, hosted Colin Quinn, Bobcat Goldthwait, Dick Cavett, Caroline Rhea, Saturday Night Lives Sasheer Zamata, and dozens of other laughmakers. In 2015, we will keep it going, and donate to our beneficiaries, Polaris (humantrafficking) and Family of Woodstock (domestic violence) by doing what we do best. We are a nonprofit organization that gives our proceeds to other charities, something that we are very proud of. We strongly believe that this years festival will be the best one yet; we are expecting some of the countrys best comedians and are planning on raising record-breaking numbers for our beneficiaries. If you are interested in writing an article regarding our upcoming events, please let me know. I would be happy to get you in touch with some of our comedians or Chris Collins, the founder of WCF. Thank you for your consideration. I will be in touch with you at the end of the week to discuss further details. Best, Sarah Haggerty Sarah.Haggerty1@marist.edu 508-274-4956
