as directed by the teacher.

1. The student will demonstrate teamwork through cooperation and listening skills.

CALIFORNIA DANCE/PE STANDARDS:


Introductory/Warm-up Activity: 1.2- Perform basic locomotor skills (e.g., walk, run, gallop, jump,
hop, and balance)
Lesson Focus: 2.2- Respond to a variety of stimuli (e.g., sounds, words, songs, props, and images)
with original movements.
Closing/Cool Down Activity: 1.4 - Perform simple movements in response to oral instructions
(e.g., walk, turn, reach)
5.1- Give examples of the relationship between everyday movement in school and dance
movement.

Vowel Song

Teaching Hints
Ask students to scatter around designated area.
Instruct students to:
-move while music plays.
-find Partner toe-to-toe and freeze.
-wiggle arms high when they hear Uuu! in the
song.
Show vowel sign.
Students make vowel letter shapes with partners or
on their own.
Repeat.

PART 4: CLOSING/COOL DOWN ACTIVITY (2-5 mins):

The Walking Song
Explain to the students that they must listen
closely to the directions given.
Modification: Have students sit in a circle and use
rhythm sticks and hit them as though they are
walking to the speed directed in the song.
