I draw the darkness around me like a sheet

and drink from it

make love to it
Seeking equilibrium
between the two yawning chasms
within and without
Oh how I've longed to perforate
this feeble shell
Let bleed the twain each into the other
That as one
they diminish
what remains of what never was;
extinguish
that vapid flame that gave no warmth
and lighted no hearth.
