Dear cafeteria personnel:

Whats VISAs problem?

The purpose of this letter is to inform the cafeteria staff that for various
reasons, V.I.S.A students lunch eating is decreasing too much. Surveys have shown
that there are three main reasons that students arent eating lunch. The third
reason they are not eating is the fact that students would rather spend lunch with
friends than waiting for food. The second reason students arent eating is because
the food isnt the most appealing food there is. The top reason students wont even
go through lines, even if not eating the food after receiving it, is that they are too
long. The lines take up too much time, the food is NOT worth waiting for, and people
would rather be with their friends. Thats the reason the amount of students getting
lunch is going down. If something doesnt change, this is how much money the
school will lose:
1 year

2 years

3years

10 years

$115,000

$230,000

$345,000

$1,150,000

How we can solve this?

I have decided to propose a solution that focuses on the top reason. The solution I
am proposing is changing bell schedules. I created a survey, and results have shown
that 88% of students agree with this. I believe younger students, freshmen and
sophomores, should eat lunch together. The older students, juniors and seniors,
should have a separate lunch from the younger students. The surveys results
displayed that over 65% of VISA students prefer to have this schedule put into use.
In order to use this solution, VISA does not need to spend an excess of money, or
any money at all; all VISA needs is a small amount of time to decide the schedules.
If students eat lunch separately, then the lines would shorten. The more students
that eat, the more money the school is provided.

What will the solution do in the future?

I predict that using my solution would be successful. If my solution is used, not only
will the number of students not eating decrease, but the number of tardies will as
well. Students will now have less time in lines and more time available to eat and
spend time with friends as they please. As a result of the schedule changing, the
hallways will also be freer. This way, students have an easier time getting to class.
With this change, the school funds can be used for activities beneficial to the
students.
