Reaction Paper

As part of the requirements in our subject Nuclear Engineering, the fifth year
students had attended Technical Sessions on Application of Nuclear Technology held
on last December 09, 2014 at Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI), Diliman
Quezon City. The said event is part of the 42nd Atomic Energy Week (AEW) celebration.
As the theme implies, all of the topics that have been discussed are all about the
benefits, applications and issues-(environmental and health) which fragments of part of
the whole of nuclear technology. The technical sessions gave us-the students,
professors and other attendees who are and would not be exposed to this field
information that will clear somehow our cloudy thoughts about nuclear technology.
Nuclear technology is such a ground break to the field of science, for it has a
huge and various applications, not just as power resource, but have a tremendous
contribution as well in medicine; enhancing of medical equipment, improving the quality
of drugs, etc. It also has a great contribution to the field of research and nowadays to
the industry.
Though the EE students were not able to grasp all the details-for other terms and
details are more or considered advanced, at least we (PUP-EE students) are more
knowledgeable and will not be alienated, if ever, eventually the students will be exposed
in this field or related to nuclear technology .
The speakers were adept to the topics they had discussed .Some of them are
part of international organization in nuclear technology who are now currently working in
research program that will enhance the existing technology and find new application of
the above mentioned technology.
This kind of event to be attended is a great privilege for the PUP-EE students for
it only happens in rare occasions.
