Procedure for using the interferometer.

This procedure makes use of the LK-G-M-NO2-E interferometer by

Keyence. We will use dome-shaped PZT samples along with the
interferometer. The image of the interferometer is given below. The
interferometer will be suspended on an anti-vibration table.

Calibration:
Setting the light intensity of the interferometer:

The LK-G Series measures the displacement of the target by measuring the
laser beam reflected from the surface of the target. The ABLE function
automatically adjusts the light intensity and the sensitivity to their optimum
levels according to the conditions (color, luster, and material) of the target
surface.

Setting procedure of ABLE (AUTO)

Hold down the SET key, and select "kEAd-A" with the UP key.
Press the ENT key, and select the function "A" by the LEFT key. Set
ABLE.
Press the ENT key, and select "A-0" with the UP key. Select AUTO.
Press the ENT key to register the setting. Press the ENT key to return
to the measurement state.

The ABLE calibration function optimizes the adjustment range of ABLE by

actually measuring the target. Use this function when the reflective ratio of
the target changes drastically in a short cycle.

Setting procedure of the ABLE calibration

Hold down the SET key, and select "kEAd-A" with the UP key.
Press the ENT key, and select the function "d" with the key. Set the
ABLE calibration process.
Press the ENT key to display "StArt". Press the ENT key again to start
measurement."StoP" indicates that the target is being measured.
Press the ENT key to register the measurement result. Press the
SETkey to return to the measurement state.

Procedure:
1. Fix the interferometer on the anti vibration desk about 1 feet off
the ground.
2. Make sure the interferometer is not moving, as it will significantly
affect the data.
3. Connect the power supply to the interferometer and wait for the
LASER ON light to turn on.
4. Make sure that the light sensitivity of the device is set to AUTO
and that it is calibrated properly using the methods given above.
5. Connect the laser to the control module.
6. Take the dome-shaped sample and place it underneath the
interferometer.
7. Place the sample so that the peak is directly underneath the
laser beam.
8. Connect the signal generator to the piezoelectric dome.
9. Turn on the signal generator. Set to 0 Volts 200 Hz and test the
sample.
10.
Use the software on the computer to collect data from the
experiment.
11.
Repeat steps 4-10 with 200 Hz and 2 V, 3V, 4V, and 5V.
12.
Repeat step 11 with 500 Hz.
13.
Repeat steps 11 and 12 with a square wave.
14.
When done with the experiment, quit the program and turn
off the computer.

15.
Turn off the signal generator and also turn off the power
supply.
16.
Handle all equipment very carefully, as they are very
expensive.
17.
Clean the work area and put everything where it belongs.
