PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve
required learning standards. Challenge: For an A provide an idea where the learning activity reaches a LoTi level 4a or

above. To do this you will have to design
a project where students
engage in higher-order
thinking and publish their work to an
audience that will use or care about the results. Broad feedback for their work is also a great way to boost interest and
performance.

Brief Description of Learning Experience: What learning standards will be addressed? What will
students and teachers do? How will the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What
audience will use/care about the multimedia projects students are creating? How broad is this
audience? How will student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide feedback to students
about their work?
The students will have been studying America and the various symbols that represent the country. For the project to show
what they have learned, the students will be assigned groups as well as one symbol to do a movie on. The movie will be
made by using Windows Moviemaker, and they will have a week in class to complete the project. For each group, there
will already be a set of pictures for the students to choose from in a specific folder as well as various clips. The students
must be able to put the media into a single movie but do not need text.
Once the projects have been completed, the students will post each of their videos on the classroom blog, being sure to
keep it anonymous. They will then present with their group and share what they have created to the class. That is when
they will be graded as well as receive feedback on how well they were able to put together a movie and their ability to post
in onto the classroom blog. Because it will be on the internet, the audience will be anyone who would like to look at the
blog as well as their classmates.
Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why?
Which indicators of Engaged Learning are strong and why? The LoTi level this lesson would be would be a 4+
because the child are creating their own movie online, then posting and sharing their work onto the classroom blog. They
must be able to use the movie editing program as well as how to post on the blog.
Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could
the project be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other
types of technology, if any, are going to be used in the learning experience? This project is solely
surrounded by online tools, which indicates that it would not be able to be done without the use of technology. The
students will need technology to create the movie as well as post the movie on the classroom blog.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether
in part or whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from
others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet
safety and student privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain
how youd minimize risks to students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and
follow school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy.
There could be possible issues with the students making an online project then posting their work on the classroom blog,
which will be available for most people to see. Those issues include the students going to sites they dont belong on, their
work having a full name attached to it, and having the parents not feel secure about their students information being
online. However, the ways to diffuse the issues is by having every student gain permission by their parents to post online,
give the students specific sources to use, and keep the projects anonymous. There will be no names, pictures, or other
information attached to the online project.
