Racial profiling is a practice of discrimination that law

enforcement authorities use as a way to suspect for any crime. They

use a persons race, ethnicity, or religion to target them for any crimes
or justification for something the suspect did or what they might do. In
simpler words its a way to judge someone based on their personal
characteristics. A great example of racial profiling is after the 9/11
incident is that law enforcement started to keep more of an open eye
when people from the middle east show up at airports. The security
level that expanded is one thing but to train officers or security guards
to racial profile a Middle Eastern person just because they look like the
people that bombed the towers is simply wrong.
One example of ethnocentric practices is Nazi Germany, one of
the most tragic prejudice acts in history. Hitler made up his mind about
hating Jews and decided he was going to torture, kill, and humiliate
those innocent people because he simply hated their presence.
Another example of ethnocentrisms is the country we are living in, the
United States plays a big role in ethnocentric practices because o the
wars that have occurred and still are occurring. Its no secret that the
U.S thinks they are better than other countries and by setting foot in
another country and killing their soldiers and innocent people doesnt
make them any better than what Germany once was.
The social construction of race is what society groups people as
and assuming their race because of the color of their skin. This concept
is applied to Americans with backgrounds of more than one race
because based on the color of their skin they will either be white,
black, Asian, or Hispanic. In a social construction act ones
culture doesnt matter because society will not be able to tell if one
person is half black and half white. Which is very unfortunate because
this act doesnt allow for peoples cultures to be embraced.
A model minority is a minority group that has achieved a higher
degree of success than the average population. The model minority in
the U.S are Asian Americans; they have the most success in careers
and businesses. The disadvantage of being part of this group is that
they are viewed as a single group and not noticing how diverse the
group actually is. Like Asia, they have a diverse group of people that
not all have a success rate. Which is not really giving credit to the
individuals who are working hard for the recognition. One advantage is
not being discriminated against in racial profiling because being part of
the model minority group means they have the lowest crime rates.
