To Whom It May Concern;
It is a pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Maira Valencia. Maira was in my Child Development
class during her junior year and she is currently in my Health and Family Living class at Merced High School. I
have known her since August 2013. As a student, she has demonstrated many qualities that will enable her to
be successful. She maintains a great attendance record; she is attentive and follows directions well. She
completes all her assignments in a timely manner. She works well on both individual and group projects,
working effectively and cooperatively with fellow students. She is always willing to participate in class.
Maira plans on pursuing a career in the medical field. She wants to become a Registered Nurse. Maira is
currently taking the Medical Occupations class. Through this class she has learned how to take patient vitals,
she is CPR and first aide certified, understands blood borne pathogen procedures and basic life support.
Maira has been involved in various student organizations in the past four years. She was in the Pacific Club
for during her freshman year. This is a club designed to encourage peer interaction with the special needs
students at Merced High School. Maira has been a member of MeCha the last two years, serving in a
leadership role with her peers as Vice President this year. MECha is a student led organization empowering
young Latin students to pursue higher education. Through this club she has built friendships and helped with
fundraisers and community service events. In her junior year, she was in FHA-HERO, serving as a student
delegate at the State Leadership Meeting in Riverside, CA. This year Maira is a link leader. This program is
designed to assist incoming freshman to acclimate to the high experience. Maira is a positive role model for the
underclassmen at Merced High.
In addition to all the student organizations Maira is involved in, she has also been training with the RIGGS
Ambulance Explorer Post for the last two years. The Explorer Post is a branch of the Boy Scouts of America
that is specifically designed for youth between the ages of 12 and 18 who want a head start on their future.
They learn essential skills that will prepare them for their journey ahead. They undergo continual training in
EMS during their training twice a month. The Post has been involved in events where they provide First-Aid to
the sick and injured at community events: Merced County Fair - Medical Aid coverage, Farmers Market downtown Merced, Golden West Aviation Fly-In Castle Airport.
Maira has a maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.26. She has most definitely left an impression with me the last
two years. She is a dedicated, positive and honest young lady. She communicates well with others and shows
responsibility. I believe she has the determination and study skills that will enable her to succeed as she
continues with her education and future career. Her compassion and willingness to give of herself will take her
far in her future career in the medical field. She is a respectful and hard-working individual who puts forth her
best. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,

Tammie Meyer
