Learning Outcomes
Technology Literacy
At the beginning of every year each student is issued a laptop.
With that laptop I am able to communicate with my teachers, and do
my assignments quicker. I also have a cell phone of my own, and with
that I have access to social media and other activities, such as,
Facebook, Instagram, Kik, and Snapchat.
Collaboration
I am a member of many activities here at the school. I am a part
of the Dancing Diamonds, LINK Crew, Senior Board, Debate/Forensics,
Choir, and Theater. Every one of these activities require me to work
with others, so I have had many opportunities to make new friends,
meet wonderful people, and gain experience in being a leader.
Career Preparation
During my senior year I was assigned a professional skills course
with Mrs. Maxwell in the College & Career center. In there I had the
opportunity to apply for numerous scholarships, apply for colleges, and
give tours to new students and visiting businesses.
Written Communication
I have written a lot of essays. Ive written essays for
scholarships, college acceptance, and for job applications.
Oral Communication
My sophomore year I took Public Speaking through KCKCC. In
that class we wrote speeches, and we would have to present them in
front of the class and the professor. I also have spoken at one of the
staff meetings here at Wyandotte. With me being into the performing
arts, Im always in front of an audience, whether its at school, or at
church. Im never not performing.
Class Summaries
Zoology
Zoology taught me a number of things. I learned about the
biological classifications, more species of animals, and their
characteristics. The biological classification consists of domain,
kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. I knew
nothing about this. I learned about reptiles, amphibians, insects, and
mammals. I learned of how each species has a connection to the next.
My teacher taught us about evolution, which means the change over
time. Evolution is something that happens within one species over
time, which causes that species to evolve into another. Now, we

werent always doing bookwork. There were some hands-on activities.

We studied bird feathers, and turtles. I though it was pretty cool. Even
though I didnt like science at first, this class made it more interesting.
Musical Comedy
Musical comedy was a challenging, but fun class. I learned a lot
about the history of Broadway. I wish to be on Broadway some day.
Our teachers taught us about different musicals. We played theater
games like Questions, ABC, and Taxi. We wrote a lot of essays. I
believe we wrote at least 10 essays for that class. During the
beginning of the semester each student had to learn and perform a
song from a Broadway musical. I performed Theres No Place Like
London from the musical Sweeney Todd. Some of the other students
sung songs from The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Annie, and
Dreamgirls. I learned how to properly work with others, including
people I did not know. Overall, I had fun in that class.
World History
World history, for me, was one of the toughest classes I had.
There was so much work, and we did a large amount of research. On
top of all of that, it was a little hard to concentrate because my
classmates were not as focused as they needed to be. It was a few
people besides me who actually did what they were supposed to do.
The teacher was very patient. He willingly worked with me whenever I
needed the help. We wrote an extreme amount of essays for that
class. I learned more about slavery, and trade between countries. We
also learned about the holocaust. That unit was the most depressing
unit ever. Innocent people were tortured and killed because of immoral
issues. Though this was one of the most challenging courses, I still
made it through with an A.
Chamber Singers
This was one of my favorite courses because I love to sing.
Music has always been a piece of me. I eat sleep and breath music.
This course introduced me to different types of music, and another
style of singing. This class also helped me with my social skills. A lot
has changed for me from being in this class. My voice has matured a
lot compared to when I first started. I love working with Mrs. Watts,
and shes very good at what she does. The songs may sometimes be
different and harder to sing, but it was all worth it. Weve sung in
Latin, Spanish, German, Italian, and Russian. We even sung some
spirituals. I love how our repertoire of music is so diverse. Each song
has its own sound and that makes a little bit more interesting. While
learning the group songs, we also are given the opportunity to choose
solos for the Regional Solo Competition.

Business Communications
This class was not one of my favorites. The work was very easy,
but the class itself was so boring. However, Mrs. Maxwell was a great
teacher. She made sure that each student understood the material.
We learned how to create our resumes, cover letters, and great ways
to network. This class gave a lot of information that I believe will be
very important for me to know for my future. Those skills include how
to act in an interview, and what to do when I go to college.
