Give Local Piedmont 2015:

$730,000+ Raised Through 5,084 Donations in 24 Hours
Warrenton, VAFor the second consecutive year, residents in the Northern Piedmont of
Virginia banded together to give back to their local nonprofits. Surpassing the total donations of
the inaugural Give Local Piedmont last year, the 2015 event raised a total of $730,757.48, which
includes a $100,000 bonus pool from the Fauquier Health Foundation and $30,000 in prizes.
While the final figure represents a modest 8% increase in the overall total from last year, what
stood out on May 5, 2015, was the number of donations5,084 gifts were received, a full 50%
more than in 2014. This is significant for nonprofits benefitting from Give Local Piedmont
donationsnot only does it help spread awareness of their causes, it garners fresh support in the
future. Each of the 137 participating charities received at least two gifts, ranging from modest to
magnanimous. Three nonprofits surpassed 200 donations apiece while seven others had more
than 100 donations each.
In addition, the events prize structure, which was largely based on number of donations versus
donation totals, encouraged more individual donations in hopes of earning one of many coveted
prizes. Nonprofits dedicated to education, health, and the environment were among the prize
winners, but the arts, animals, and youth programs benefited as well. In the end, each Give Local
Piedmont participant came out a winner.
Everyone has been so tremendously supportive, said John McCarthy, board of directors
chairman of the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation, the events primary sponsor and
organizer. We are surrounded by people who care deeply for our community.
Celebrating its 15th year, the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation is a public charity that
builds philanthropic capital to enhance and preserve the quality of life in Culpeper, Fauquier,
Madison, and Rappahannock Counties and to strengthen the regions nonprofit organizations.
