She leaned far out on the window-sill
Toward the next hill darkening to the west
She was tempted to jump
To put her loneliness at rest
Outside the leaves were falling
She could hear her beloved calling
He was shot in the head and worse than dead
He was gone, he had fled
She knew in her heart
They would never be apart
She knew what she had to do
From her window she flew
She fell into his arms
She knew she was safe from harm
She stood proud and tall
