First-Year Experience Intern
Before being offered a job with the First-Year Experience Department at California State University, Chico I
completed a semester long internship within the program.

Relevant Coursework
I have taken many Education classes and am in the process of graduating California State University with a
BA in Liberal studies and getting my Multiple subject teaching credential.

Skills/strengths
Because of my on campus job I have learned so much on what it means to be a good mentor/teacher.
Since my freshman year at the university I have studied Communities of Practice, Public Sphere Pedagogy,
Complexity Theory, and more theories around first year college students, mentoring, and work
environments.

I hold many positions within the First-Year Experience Program at California State University, Chico. I am a
writing/academic mentor for UNIV 101 and UNIV 105 which are courses offered at the university for first
year students. These classes are designed to help students with their transition into the college lifestyle. I
have also helped plan events for CSU, Chico such as the Sense of Place exhibit and The Chico Great
Debate.
