What we can learn from stories

Please can parents send in yoghurt pots and

large plastic water bottles for our next Unit of
Inquiry.

Reflections:
This week we spent time learning about rhyming words, talking about fables and what morals
mean to us. In math we mapped out our classroom and discussed the different types of maps
that can be used. We talked about Respect and the various ways that we can show respect to
ourselves and others.

Learning Engagements:
Next week we will be focusing on:
Language - We will be continuing our work on independent writing, guided reading, and
looking at the journals that were sent home this weekend.
Maths - We will be starting a class collection to enhance our sorting, tally marking and counting skills.
Unit of Inquiry - We will be presenting our Summative Assessment with students creating
their own stories or retelling a familiar story by acting, puppets or miming.

Parental Engagement
During this unit we will be finding out about all different kinds of stories. This will include stories from
our own cultural backgrounds. If any parents would like to spare a little time on Wednesday afternoons to
read a story to the class, please speak to your class teacher.
