EDU 101: Educational Psychology Individual Assignment, April, 2015

Konyeza is a secondary school teacher who views adolescence as a period of storm and stress.
She teaches a school in one of the rural Districts in Dar- es Salaam. She also believes in the
commonly held in Swahili slogan, Ujana maji ya moto. She often complains about her students
misbehaving, being delinquent and truant. She says she has noticed a lot of suicide attempt
feelings among her students such that she wishes they could skip that stage of development if it
were for her to decide. She complains also that the students do not want to learn especially her
subject, Mathematics, that she teaches.
Questions: As a student of knowledge of Educational Psychology (a) briefly explain what it
means for a teacher to hold such views. (b). Give a critical review of Ms. Konyezas
conceptions of adolescent students basing on your understanding of psychological theories about
human development.
NB: Among other references/sources use Omari, et al. Educational Psychology for Teachers,
Santrock, Educational Psychology, sent to you via email (BECA). BELM email failed, BEEM
did not bring any group email. Other Educational Psychology references are available in the
Library. In attempting your work, make sure you have more than six references for your work.
About 3 references must be from the credible internet sources. Use Google Scholar for
searching and not the main Google Search. Write only four pages including references in an
APA style. Type in Times New Roman, space 1.5. Be precise, logical and to the point. Submit
your work on eLearning platform and hard copy to the CR.
