DuringtheEnglish2010courseIhavelearnedthestrengthsandweaknessesacademic
writersgothrough.InthebeginningoftheclassIstruggledwithorganizing,makingarguments
stronger,andcitinginformations.Takingthisclasshasenhancedmywritingskillsandithas
mademeabetterwriter.ThisclasshastaughtmestrategiesIdidntknowIcouldusebeforeand
forthatIamtrulyblessed.Theclassandtheprofessorhavehelpedfurthermyknowledgeon
howtobecomesuccessfulintheworldofwriting.English2010hasshownmehowtobeabetter
writerinmanywayssuchasusingdifferentstrategiesofargumentation,revisingpapers,and
citingdifferentinformationsappropriately.
ThroughouttheclassIhavecometounderstandtheappropriateuseofdifferentstrategies
suchasethos,logos,andpathos.OndifferentpapersthatIhavewrittenduringclassIlearnedto
presenttheargumentscredibly.Inowknowhowtouseresearchinformationsappropriatelyby
usinglogos.Iunderstandhowtobackupargumentsbyusingfactualinformationsthatwill
supporttheclaim.Thelogosstrategywouldbemystrongestassetduetousingfacts.Inwriting
usingfactsalwaysmakesanindividuallookcredible.Inaddition,Ifamiliarizedhowtouseethos
andpathosinacademicwriting.Usingethoshasalsohelpedmeasawriterbyoverseeingthe
prosandconsofanissue.IusedethosonmostpapersthatIhavewrittentohaveabetter
understandingoftheissuebeingpresented.Theethosstrategyshowedmehowtosympathize

withonesbeliefotherthanmine.Notonlydidithelpmegrabtheaudienceattentionbutitalso
helpmemaketheargumentstrongerbylookingatdifferentviews.Pathoschallengedmyskills
asawriterbecauseofhowIpresentedtheinformationtotheaudience.Thisstrategyhasbeen
helpfulbecauseithelpedmegrabtheaudienceattentionemotionallyandmentally.Usingpathos
canhelpanindividualbytellingastorythatwouldcatchtheaudienceunderstandingofan
argument.Pathoscangrabanaudienceattentionintermsofhowitcanaffectthem.
WhiletakingthiscourseIhaveencounteredmyweaknessesasawriter.Eitherby
revisingapaperorbycitinginformationsappropriately.Revisingandcitinginformationsarethe
twoweaknessesIstruggledthemostinwriting.Ioftentendtodotoomuchresearchandfeel
entitledtouseallofitinmypaper.Iwasaskedbymyprofessortocondensethepaper,organize
myinformations,andcitethefactscorrectly.AroundthattimeIfeltlikegivingupbecausethen
everythingseemedsoimpossibletodo.AlthoughIstruggledthroughoutthecourseIpulled
throughandfixedeverythingthatwasincorrect.Ilearnedtoproperlydointextcitationsby
goingthroughtheentirepaperandaskingforhelp.Ialsolearnedhowtoorganizeallofmy
researchandtransferitinthepaper.Ireadandanalyzedmypapertobeabletocondenseitand
makemysentencesstronger.AlthoughIencounteredafewproblemsIrealizedthatitisawayto
learnandbecomeabetterwriter.

Thoughthereisalwaysroomforimprovement,English2010hasshapedmetobecomea
betteracademicwriter.Thiscoursehashelpedmeidentifymystrengthsandweaknessesasa
writer.AlthoughIstruggledthroughoutthesemesterIcouldntbemoregratefulforeverything
thatIhavelearned.Ihavelearnedtomakemyargumentsstronger,organizemyresearch,andI
finallyunderstandhowtogivecredittotheauthorsIamborrowinginformationsfrom.
