Womens Council Announces Stellar Program

Line-up of Business Leaders for Third Annual


WILD Summit
The Women's Council at CUs Deming Center for Entrepreneurship announces six
panels of more than 20 women business entrepreneurs and leaders discussing
todays most timely and provocative topics
BOULDER, Colo., Jan. 27, 2015 The Womens Council, part of CUs Leeds School of Business,
today announced the program line-up for its second annual (Women Inspiring Leadership
Development) WILD Summit taking place on April 10th, 2015.

The Womens Councils WILD Summit will explore ways in which you can hone your decisionmaking skills in several key areas that you more than likely deal with every day through the
theme of Choices." Women make important choices every day, whether difficult or not, and it
is critical to understand how they can have a positive or negative impact on their careers and
their effectiveness in influencing the world around them. During this inspirational forum,
professionals from different industries and at different places in their career share their
experiences, challenges, successes and wisdom. It will foster an environment of learning about
todays realities for women leaders and allow participants to gain insights into key trends
shaping the future of five rapidly evolving industries in which women are leading the charge for
change.

Besides keynote speakers and industry leaders Barbara Mowry and Elaine Feeney, WILD
Summit III attendees will be able to select between two of six panels comprised of more than
20 women industry leaders. These women will share their stories as entrepreneurs and leaders
entering, growing and succeeding in their industries.

Casting Yourself: Choosing and Effective Presentation Strategy


What Rody Kent learned in the film industry she now translates for senior executives who wish
to refine their executive presence. She understands how important communicating well can be
for large group/media settings or small intimate settings with other senior leaders and looks to
help refine speaking styles to demonstrate more conviction, connect with the audience more
quickly and be perceived as more charismatic.
Panelists include: Rody Kent, Presentation Coach.

Leveraging Masculine and Feminine Strengths: Better Choices, Better Leaders, Better Results
Experts say that the old predominately masculine style of leadership is bankrupt. Effective
leaders today must have a balance of masculine and feminine strengths. In this interactive
session, you will understand why leveraging both masculine and feminine strengths can make a
difference and how to use this information to benefit your own career and your
organizations bottom line.
Panelists include: Dr. Rich Grenhart, experienced clinician, coach and educator; Caroline Turner,
Principal, DifferenceWORKS, LLC.

Choices and Trade-offs in Sustainability Exploring the Female Perspective


This panel will explore the unique perspective women bring to the table of sustainability in the
business world as it continues to gain traction and credibility as a solution for what faces
society on a number of fronts: health and nutrition, food supply issues, water scarcity, energy
efficiency, waste management, and resource conservation.
Panelists include: Ellen Feeney, Board of Directors, Center for Resource Solutions; AJ Grant;

Catherine Greener, Vice President of Sustainability, Xanterra Parks & Resorts; Kim Coupounas,
Director, B Lab Colorado.

Strategic and Authentic Networking: Research-based strategies that work for women
This session will focus on looking at common network traps and learning about the most
effective way to utilize networks. Learn about the differences in effectiveness in the way that
women and men approach their networks differently and how women can utilize theirs to meet
their goals.
Panelists include: Jan West, Executive Leadership Coach and Consulting Pscyhologist; Phil
Wilburn, social network analysis expert.

Making Confident Decisions - Quickly


Every day youve got to make decisions in your business and personal life, but how can you be
sure youre making the right ones? This panel of three professional athletes talks about the
split-second decisions theyve made in their sport and how the skill of confident and decisive
decision making has led to success in the businesses they now run. Dr. Lori Seward will then
lead the audience in an interactive workshop which will provide a deeper understanding of how
to make decisions and give tools to increase confidence in decision making.
Panelists include: Dr. Lori Steward, senior instructor of Operations Management in The Leeds
School of Business at CU-Boulder; Erin Carson, professional basketball player and General
Manager of Rally Sport; Nancy Cranbourne, Owner/Director of One Big Yes Productions and
former professional dancer; Nicole DeBoom, Founder/CEO of Skirt Sports and professional
triathlete.

When life gets busy, we sometimes fail to recognize the potential options we have to improve
the quality of our lives. Dont miss this hands-on workshop about unlocking choices when
feeling boxed in and hear inspiring stories from people who have done just that. Get ready to
identify areas in your life where you feel stuck, gain new tools to spot choices not readily
apparent, brainstorm with your fellow WILD attendees, and walk away with concrete action
steps to get you moving forward!

Panelists: Barb Garrison, Career and Money Breakthrough Coach; Carla Johnson, Owner,
Waterstone, Inc.; Susan Bleekman, Vice President of Sales, Rapt Media; Steph Bruno, Owner
and Founder, SBWA, LLC.

We have come such a long way toward our goal of helping foster discussion, growth and ideas
among women of all ages, said Carrillo. We have heard from attendees especially students
how they have grasped so much from attending each WILD Summit and put it to practical use.
We have so many examples of how this conference has impacted the lives of so many
professional women. It is so gratifying to be part of this positive change.
