PAU 3101-AFRICAN HISTORY GROUP ASSIGNMENT

April 2015
Instructions
Kindly tackle the following group/team assignments. Each team is expected
to constitute approximately ten candidates and must appoint a group leader,
who will ensure that the group conducts research, compiles a research paper,
presents it in a class seminar and submits the paper for grading. This should
be about 4000 words at most, typed double space. The paper should be well
written and it should observe the basic canons of good historical writing. In
assessing this paper, we will pay attention to elements of good writing
including how well the paper is referenced. For a basic introduction to
elements of good writing, William Strunk Jr. and E. B. White, The Elements of
Style (New York: Longman, [1959] 2000), (New Edition) is a guide. Nb/ Each
Group presentation constitutes 20% of the final grade for this course.

Q1. In your view, what factors contributed to the emergence of Egypt as a
great civilization?
Q.2. Explain the features of Egyptian excellence in the field of science and

Q3. Discuss the consequences of the Trans Atlantic trade on African

Q4. In your view, what are the most important consequences of the scramble
for and partition of Africa, on the peoples of the continent?
Q5. Discuss the Contribution of either Julius Nyerere to the promotion of Pan

Q7. With reference to the Economic Community of West African
