The Averitt Center for the Arts and the Bulloch County Historical Society are presenting a new puppet production called "History Between Our Toes" from November 3-8, 2015. The play follows students in a classroom who must present reports on Georgia history but are unprepared. In the library, the students' research comes to life through puppetry as they learn about ancient ecology, native peoples, and European exploration. Their successful presentations conclude with the stories of the founding of Georgia and the meeting of Tomochichi and James Oglethorpe.

November 3 - 8, 2015 Tuesday - Friday 7 p.m. Saturday 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday 2 p.m. Act 1: The Classroom Scene 1: Georgia History Scene 2: Fantasy and Fiction Act 2: The Library Scene 1: Ancient Ecology Scene 2: Native People Scene 3: Age of Exploration Act 3: Presentations Scene 1: Bloody Marsh Scene 2: Tomochichi and Oglethorpe The setting is a classroom headed by Miss Franklin. The students are to be presenting their research projects on Georgia History - one on Ancient Ecology, one on Native Peoples and the other on the Age of Exploration. The students, it is quickly apparent, have not done their work and their presentations are more fantasy and fiction than fact. Miss Franklin orders them to the library to do proper research and to be prepared to present again afterwards. She also warns them that libraries make all manner of history come to life. In the library the students split up and go their respective areas where indeed, their research leaps from the pages and interacts with them, including some of the ancient whales and reptiles of the prehistoric. Their presentations are a hit and Miss Franklin completes the days lesson with the story of Bloody Marsh and the early settlement of the Georgia Colony ending in the meeting of Tomochichi and Oglethorpe.
