The Oregon Trail was route traveled by Americans to reach the states of Washington,
Oregon, California, Utah, and Nevada. The route was important because it was the only
way settlers could get across the Rockies Mountains with wagons and gear. Without this
route these territories might never have been settled and became a part of the USA.
