Boing! Manager
Required to start as soon as possible
Boing! is a small, successful, local softplay family
centre with caf for families with 0-5 year olds set
in the heart of Lockleaze, a North Bristol
community. It was established in 2011 to support
vulnerable families in the area through a combination of softplay and
creative based activities as well as great refreshments and snacks. It
provides an opportunity for mums, dads and carers to get some respite
whilst their little ones play, as well as have some adult conversation and the
chance to find out what is happening in the community (e.g. other activities,
courses, trips etc) and potentially engage with it.
Boing! was established and is run, uniquely, by the local childrens centre
which has strong links to other parts of the community, including the local
Neighbourhood Trust, churches and other agencies. The successful
candidate will work for Stoke Park Childrens Centre as part of the Family
Services Team. He/she will focus on the local parents who visit Boing!,
providing a warm welcome, and building relationships with them, as well as
preparing & serving refreshments from our reputable caf.
We are seeking a motivated, reliable, confident, outgoing and creative
person to lead a small team in the running and, following our recent move
into brand new premises on Gainsborough Square, development of Boing!.
The successful candidate will need to be commercially and socially aware
setting high st andards and
enhancing sales through the
provision of outstanding customer
service. Our ideal candidate will
have previous customer service
experience within the hospitality
sector, however this is not essential
as the overriding factor will be
personality along with ability in the
kitchen. We're looking for a strong
communicator with an approachable

manner and a proactive, hands on attitude.

Boing! opens Tuesday to Friday with additional work available on some
Saturdays & Sundays when we open for parties. One of our aims is to
provide every 0-5 year old in Lockleaze with an affordable birthday party,
and we were a finalist in the Netmums Best Party Venue competition
2013. There are lots of different ways in which Boing! can be developed
so this job is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for the successful
candidate to stamp their personality on a project whilst genuinely helping
and supporting young local families.
The salary equivalent (pro rata) is 17,714 per annum (Bristol Grade 7,
9.18 per hour). This is a Fixed Term Contract initially until 31st March
2016 for 37 hours per week - term time only - with paid holiday (24 days
pro rata in total rising to 29 after 5 years service not including Bank
Holidays) and employer subsidised pension. Boing! uniform is supplied.
Candidates will need to be willing to have a DBS check, and will need to be
eligible to work in the UK. Employment references will be taken.
