    Volunteeringisoneofthemostbeneficialthingswe,ashumans,cando.Volunteering
    providespeopletheopportunitiestohelpothers,whilebeingabletogainexperienceandskills
    neededforthefuture.Volunteersshouldbehardworking,dedicated,anddependablesothe
    peoplereceivinghelpcancountonthem.Throughouthighschool,Ihavebeeninvolvedinthree
    organizationsthathavededicationtoservice,andduringmytimeintheseorganizationsIhave
    beenapartofnumerousvolunteerefforts.
    DuringmytimeinStudentCouncil,Ihavevolunteeredmytimetoplaneventsthat
    benefitothers.IhavebeenactiveinplanningboththeChristmasLunchandBreastCancer
    AwarenessWeek.TheChristmasLunchisaneventwheretheStudentCouncilprovidesafree,
    familystyleChristmasLunchforallhighschoolstudents.Duringmyfreshmanandsophomore
    years,IwasontheChristmasLunchcommitteewhilemyjunioryearIwasinchargeofthe
    wholething.IhavealsobeeninvolvedinplanningBreastCancerAwarenessWeek,moving
    fromplanningthePinkParade,toplanningthehaircuttingassembly,tobeingthechairofthe
    committee,andfinallytodonatingmyhairandreadingthehalftimescript.
    ThroughmytimeintheFFAIhavecompletednumerousserviceprojectsaswell.Since
    mysophomoreyear,IhavebeenactivelyinvolvedintheChickenProcessingandDinnerservice
    project.Thisprojectconsistsofkilling,gutting,andcleaningthechickenstheFFAraises,then
    helpingcookanddebonethechickens.Afterthechickensaredeboned,theFFAsetsupan
    assemblylinetocreatecasseroledinnerstodonatetothefoodpantryattheSpringportMethodist
    Church.IhavealsobeeninvolvedinhelpingtheFFAwithAdoptAHighwayandlastyearI
    volunteeredattheJacksonAreaWalkThroughtheParkforAutism.

    MyinvolvementinNHShasalsoprovidedmewiththeopportunitytovolunteer.Each
    yearofmymembership,IhaveworkedtheblooddrivestheRedCrosshostsatthehighschool.
    Also,IwasapartofagroupthatwenttotheLyleTorrentCentertohelpteenagerswithvarious
    mentalhandicaps.ThiswasoneofthebestvolunteeringexperiencesIhaveeverbeeninvolved
    in,notonlybecauseitopenedmyeyestomorepeople,butbecauseIhadadirectimpacton
    someoneslife.
    Ibelievemytimeinhighschoolhasbeenwellspent.Ididntwasteithangingoutwith
    myfriendsorgoingtoparties.Ifoundpassions,likevolunteering,anddedicatedmytimeto
    them.Mypassionforservicehasprovidedmewithsomanyopportunitiesthroughoutmylife,
    andissomethingIhopetoneverloseasmyfuturegoeson.Tohelpfulfillmydesiretocontinue
    volunteering,IplantojoinnumerousphilanthropicgroupsattheUniversityofMichigan,and
    hopetofindotherslikemetokeepmemotivated.
