Client Description
W.O.R.D is a student-run organization that consists of
artistic performers. Members of this organization write and
perform their own poetry and/or word pieces. This
organization is relatively new, as it was started 5 years ago.
The goal was to create a space where all people can
express themselves in written fashion. Today, the platforms
for this organization include campus-wide events such as
Illini Nights, the Cotton Club variety show, Homecoming,
and Greek Weeks Step-down.

Social Media Strategy

Use multiple digital/ social platforms to inform the
organizations publics about a new upcoming spoken word
performance happening on April 4th 2015. We also want
to get these publics engaged, by having them create and
upload their own spoken word performances.
Every message posted will promote their Moment of
Clarity event, while others will engage readers through
videos of past performances and contests.
Our social media pages will also be re-skinnedmeaning
our profile and banner/cover photos will be flyers for the
event.

Social/Digital Media Tactics

1. Reminder Tweets (requesting retweets and favorites from followers) to
remind them about the upcoming Moment of Clarity event using the
#WORDatUIUC hash-tag.
2. Instagram Posts (requesting followers to watch videos) to increase
anticipation among followers and non-followers. These videos will allow users
to vicariously experience a W.O.R.D. performance piece, making them more
likely to attend the upcoming performance.
3. Facebook posts featuring videos, and information regarding the event being
promoted.

4. Create contest across all media platforms. Have fans of our social media
answer riddles. In honor of spring, each riddle will be a fruit with our initials.
But, the catch is that contestants will have to create a spoken word piece with
the theme being one of the fruits. Four winning videos will we chosenone
from each fruit category.

Rationale
For this campaign I wanted the timing to be consistent.
One trend you will notice throughout this campaign is
that posts requiring not action were posted earlier in
the day.
When people typically check their social media
accounts in the morning they are checking to stay up
to date and current.

Later in the day after work, class etc. They are more
likely to watch videos and perform desired actions like
clicking through a link.

every-other-day. It is up to you to solve the riddle, then create and upload your own spoken
word video to YouTube about the topic described in the riddle. All entries must be shared
onto our Facebook page by April 1st.
