Abstract
The objectives of this project was to inform and teach others about computer engineering as
well as go in depth about computer engineers. The intentions from the project were
accomplished by researching and finding information that is relevant and important to computer
engineering. Most people that want be a computer engineer usually have a bachelors degree.
Their jobs mainly focus on constructing and managing a computer system and technical support
but they also focus on computer networks for the transmission of data and multimedia.

Introduction
The purpose of this project is that it informs and teaches readers about computer engineering.
This project will help guide readers and go in depth about computer engineering. The project will
inform readers about how computer engineers become what they are, what they do, why they
are important, and their salaries by location and education. The readers will simply gain
knowledge through this report if completely.

Background
Becoming an Computer Engineer
Most entry-level computer hardware engineers have a bachelors degree in computer
engineering, but a degree in electrical engineering or computer science is acceptable. Hardware
computer engineers often work with computer software systems so a familiarity with computer
programming is often expected. A few large firms or specialized jobs require a masters degree
in computer engineering. Students participate in internships while in school to earn practical
experience. All engineers must continue their learning over the course of their careers to keep
up with rapid advances in technology. Important qualities that computer hardware engineers
should have are analytical skills, creativity, critical-thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and
speaking skills.

Salaries by Location
The salary changes as years of experience is increasing because the salary is determined by
the years of experience and knowledge that computer hardware engineers learn and earn. The
salary in New York compared to Texas is higher but the cost of living in New York is much more
expensive than living in Texas. In New York, you would earn more money than Texas but would
have a higher cost for living. The salaries are different in each location because of the jobs that
are in each state.

Salary by Education
The demand in the field of computer hardware engineering is high compared to mechanical
engineering or electrical engineering. It is not the highest demand but certainly not the lowest,
but the demand from all engineers is higher than compared to computer hardware engineering.
It shows that the employment of people in computer hardware engineering is high and people
want those who are in the field. The total of all occupations is highest compared to computer
engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and petroleum engineering.

What Computer Engineers Do

A computer engineer may be responsible for constructing and managing an organizations
computer system and supplying technical support. The work of a computer engineer is
grounded in the hardware from circuits to architecture but focuses on operating systems and
software as well. Furthermore, they focus on computer networks for the transmission of data
and multimedia. Computer engineers must understand the logic design, microprocessor system
design, computer architecture, computer interfacing, and continuously focus on system
requirements and design. Although, computer engineers may also design and develop some
software applications, most computer engineers are further classified by specific areas of focus.

There are certain responsibilities that a computer engineer must do in their job position. A
computer engineer must research and review current information regarding computer operating
systems, make changes to systems, and possibly develop operating systems of this type. The
computer engineer will use his/her knowledge in the fields of computer science, math, and
engineering to ensure that they carry out their daily tasks to the best of their ability. One such
duty is that the computer engineer must perform research regarding the computer operating
systems. Another specific duty of a computer engineer is to maintain current operating systems
within their job field. The computer engineer is also responsible for maintaining contact with a
large number of individuals.

Why Are Computer Engineers Important

Computer engineers have an important job in the world of technology. A computer engineer may
not only work with computers on a daily basis but could also be in a supervisory role or work
with the public. The roles that a computer engineer has are wide and varied, they could work in
a simple or large company. Computer engineers play an important role in our lives, and they are
found in many diverse areas. They work on the design of very large systems that merge many
components and many computers. Many computer engineers are involved with communication
networks that connect multiple computers, sensors, actuators, and special-purpose devices.
Computer engineering provides society with many critical utilities. Computers engineers have an
impact on public welfare and safety, as well as on health and healthcare, the environment,
quality of life, transportation, the food supply, computing, and leisure.

Results
The objectives of this project were well accomplished because I was able to understand what
computer engineers do and further into their jobs. The problems that occurred to me were
finding more information about computer engineering. The conditions that could be improved
would be writing more detailed information and finding main topics of the information. This
project could be useful in the future because people can use this project if they wanted to learn
about engineering. The results to the purpose of this project was a positive result because it
fulfilled the objective.

Conclusion
This project has shown and taught me many things about computer engineering. I learned that
computer engineers have at least a certain degree in education that is related to computer
engineering. I have also learned that computer engineers play a certain role in our world. Since
we live in the era of technology, they are in need to others. Lastly, I learned that computer
engineers are mainly responsible for constructing and managing computer systems. This project
was mainly about what I will be learning about computer engineers and what they do as well as
how they are important.
