1993-2002: family violence declined/ during timeframe 1-10 violent reports were family violence

7.6% of men were raped and/or physically assaulted by a current or former spouse, cohabiting
partner, or dating partner/acquaintance at some time in their lifetime
1996: among all female murder victims in the U.S., 30% were slain by their husbands or
boyfriends
1998-2002: 84% of spouse abuse victims were females, and 86% of victims of dating partner abuse
were female
2000: 1,247 women and 440 men were killed by an intimate partner.
