Springport High School Be the Change Scholarship Application ‘The Be the Change Scholarship was established to provide college funds to a deserving high school senior who has made a difference, A $2,400 will be awarded to a graduating Springport High School Senior each year who demonstrates exceptional citizenship. The award will be paid directly to the recipient's Student must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA Answer the following 3 short answer questions in 100-300 words (type vritten and attached to application): 1. During your time in high schoo! what have you spent your time outside of choot doing? Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, or risk that you ‘have taken and its impact on you. This question is actually a combination of two common questions: Describe a significant achievement and describe a time you grew as a person. Accomplishment questions show the admission committee what you value, what makes you proud, and ‘what you are capable of accomplishing. 2. How do you define the word hero? Who do you consider to be your hero? Indicate a person, character in fiction, an historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, etc.) who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence. What about that person made an impression on you, and how? What action did you take to turn this impression into personal development and change? “This type of question attempt to learn more about you through the forces that have shaped you, How have you made a difference inthe world, how will you continue to do this? Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you. What about you, your experiences, or your upbringing has made this issue resonate for you? Why do you care? Does the issue affect you personally in any way? If a cause is important to you or you have a strong opinion about it, relate it back to your life. An essay of at least 300-500 words (typed and attached to application: What makes you you? This should be a deep reflection of who you are as a person. What challenges have you overcome, what privileges have you taken advantage of, what motivates you-and why, what have you leamed through your life experiences so far, and why are you a person your college would want on campus, in the lecture halls, and in the dorms? Why do you want to spend two to six years of your life at a particular college, graduate school, or professional school? How is the degree necessary to the fulfillment of your goals?
