Stacey Christensen
Social Service Supervisor
715 11th Street N.
Suite 502
Moorhead, MN 56560
Dear Stacey Christensen:
I am applying for the summer 2015 internship opportunity for Clay County Social Services
organization. The skills I have developed throughout my academic studies and my Resident
Assistant position through the Department of Residence Life at NDSU give me confidence in my
qualifications for this position.
The internship position requires positive role model for the community, being able to work with
individuals from multiple backgrounds, and being reliable support. I have all of those skills,
developed during my time in the Fargo community and through my work experiences at NDSU. I
am an elected chair in the organization of National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH); this
organization strives for leadership and is made of the top 1% of student leaders living within the
residence halls. Within the organization we focus our purpose around values which consist of
leadership, service, recognition, and scholarship. These values are what helps our organization
stand out within the NDSU community and helps NRHH be a positive role model for the NDSU
community. I am a Resident Assistant in the largest womens residence hall at NDSU, with the
position I have been exposed to a diverse community and have had the opportunity to learn
more about social identities and cultural backgrounds. I enjoy interacting with students and
continue to find ways to engage with others from different backgrounds in the NDSU community.
One of my major roles as a Resident Assistant is becoming a reliable support for students within
the building. The role has built interpersonal skills and has taught me to be cognizant of potential
issues that can occur in an individuals life. Throughout this year I have been able to handle
emergency situations, mediations and increase positive behavior and attitude within the
community of the hall. I am planning on using the internship experience to help prepare me for
my long term goals in the field of Criminal Justice. This position will prepare me for administrative
tasks, personal skills, and first-hand experience for child protection and juvenile probation.
I have great confidence that I have obtained the qualifications for this position and will exceed
your expectations. Enclosed is a copy of my resume for your consideration and I look forward for
the opportunity to discuss them in person. To schedule an interview, please contact me at
katrinia.martinez@ndsu.edu or 605.517.0938.
Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to meeting with you.
Sincerely,

Katrinia Martinez
