Scenario
A CD players motor has to be at constant rotation for reading the data from the disk; thus, it
has to turn from 480 rpm at innermost edge to 210 rpm at outer edge according to position of
reading device. A controller which is an amplifier runs the motor according to input voltage.
The disk turns according to this applied voltage as a process. A sensor which is a tachometer
which reads the speed of the rotating disk and another sensor that defines the place of the
reading lens are used as feedback for comparison with 440rpm to 210rpm. As output, the lens
always reads the data from the disk with constant linear speed which is 4.3218 Mbit/s data.
Identification
Process, Plant, System: A Rotating Disk (CD)
Desired Output: 480 rpm when the lens reads at the innermost edge, to 210 rpm at the
outer edge
Output (Response): Constant reading rate of 4.3218 Mbit/s data
Comparison: Voltage from tachometer compared from the specified speed according to
position of lens control circuit
Controller: DC Motor Amplifier
Sensor: Tachometer and Position of Lens Control Circuit
