SAMPLE SURVEY:

Circle which personality you would consider the oldest, middle, and youngest child to
have. Please dont circle the same word more than once.
Oldest child: rebellious, independent, responsible
Middle child: rebellious, independent, responsible
Youngest child: rebellious, independent, responsible

Throughout multiple articles I have found common stereotypes for different

birth orders. The thing with stereotypes are that they are not true for everyone so
I decided to create a survey to test these stereotypes to see if it actually is true
that people think of these personalities when referring to a birth order. Three very
common stereotypes I found were responsible, rebellious, and independent.
The oldest child is thought to be considered the responsible child, the middle
child as the rebellious one, and the youngest child as independent. Therefore, I
tested 18 people by giving them a survey as shown above and was left with
some interesting results. For the oldest child, the results concluded that the
majority of people do believe in the stereotype, which is responsible. For both
the middle and youngest child, the results seemed to be split. There was no
definite answer, which just goes to show that there is no such thing as having a
stereotype that defines a person. To conclude, some stereotypes may be widely
known and popularized such as responsible for the oldest child while others
birth orders may not be clearly defined by one stereotype. Overall, personality
is undefinable!
