differentthingsonchildrenfromthelittlestburnstochronicdiseases.Theskillsthatyouneedto
bethisspecifictypeofdoctorisbeingabletobereallyfriendlyandpatientwithlittlekids.Other
skillsyouneedtoknowistobeabletostaycool,calm,andcollectivewhenyouaretalkingto

biologyclassrequiredformedschoolmightaswellgettwoclassesdoneinone.Mostmed
schoolsrequireyoutotakebiologyforonetotwoyears,chemistryforyear(includingOrganic
Chemistry),physicsforayear,andenglishforayear.Ratherthanhavingamajorthatdoesnot
includeanyofthesetopicmightaswellgetthemdonefasterandcheaperforyourself.Takinga
differentmajorotherthanbiologycanbedifficultbecauseyouwouldbespendmoretimein

interestingprogramatthatschoolwhichallowsfreshmanstudentstohaveachanceofmedicine.
Thisprogramisreallydynamicbecausemoststudentshavethechancetodealwithmedicine
oncetheyhavebeenadmittedintomedicalschool.Goingtomedicalschoolcanbereally
difficultatbecauseitsocompetitiveforstudents.Itisalsoreallystressfulsinceyouhavetotake
theMCATwhichisareallydifficulttest,thatalotofpeopledonotdowellin.TheMedical
CollegeAdmissionTestisareallydifficultexamthatreallyworksallofyourbrain.Thisisa
reallydifficulttest.But,onceyouareadmittedintoUniversityofMissouriKansasCityyoudo
notneedtotaketheMCAT.Thisschoolcanreallyhelpwithhigherlevelthinkingbecauseyou
willbeginallofyourlearningaboutmedicineonyourfirstdayofschool.Iwouldreallyliketo
gotothisschoolbecauseIhaveseenfamilymembergoingtothisschoolandactuallygetjobs.
Anotherplusofthisuniversityisthatyoucangointoresidencyinsixyearsratherthanyour

traditionaleightyears.Notgoingtheextratwoyearsisreallybeneficialforyourbrainandbody.
Yourbodycanrelaxalittlebitafterallofthatschoolingandyouareabletogostraightto
residencywhereyoucanstartpayingbackallofyourcollegeloans.TheclasssizesatUMKCis
fairlysmall,buttheycandifferclasstoclass.Youwillbemostlikelyworkingwithstudentsin
smallgroupsandtryingto.Thisschoolisreallydifficulttogetintosinceitsuchapristine
program.Soitisgoingtoneedalotofhardworkanddedication.

AfterdoingthisprojectIfeellikeIhaveanadvancedunderstandingofthehumanbrainandhow
togetintocollege.WiththisinformationIcanreallylearnabouthowtosuccessfullygetinto
collegeandusingallofthisneurosciencewillhelpmethroughmybiologymajorincollege.
