    SeattlePacificUniversityandtheCenterIdirect(JohnM.Perkins
    Center)havebeeninconstanttalksrelatedtoexternalprojectsand
    researchworkofthecenter.Ithastakenquiteabitoftimetofigure
    outtheplanbutatentativemodelhasbeenagreedto.
    ThePerkinsCenterwillstillworkwithexternalorganizationslikepublic
    schools,butnowitwillformalizethatworkthroughaninstitute"model.
    Asaninstitute,employingacollaborativeactionresearchprocess,the
    PerkinsCenterandJAMScandesignaresearchtoresourcegrantora
    feeforservicescontract.Whateverfindingscomefromourworktogether
    willbesharedwithothersthroughanonlinereaderandannualsymposium.
    Thegrantwriting,programimplementation,assessmentandprogramreview
    process,anddata/researchwillincludeavarietyofscholarsfroma
    varietyofinstitutions.Thecoreemphasisordistinguishingethosofthe
    institutesworkisonequitablesystemsandformingbestpractices,
    innovativeapproaches,relevantresearch,andadaptivemodels.Allofthe
    aforementionedoutcomesmustbeaccessibletopractitioners.
    MyhopeisJAMSwillbeoneofthefirstpartnersandcollaborators.What
    wediscussedearlierthisyearisrightontrackwiththisdirection.I
