Preliminary plan of action
1. The general research area
-how effective is the use of visual support to enhance the use of WH questions in
daily conversations
2. Rationale for choosing this area
-pupils in year 2 SK Tebakang are unable to understand the use of WH questions
in oral questions and answer sessions.
-pupils in year 2 unable to answer the WH questions asked by the teacher.
-pupils unable to answer the worksheets provided in WH questions format.
3. General research design, data collection methods and approach to data analysis
-action research design-quasi-experimental
Justification-one focused/experimental group
-data collection methods: Audio recordings, photographs & slides, anecdotal
records, journal (daily lesson plans reflections),
4. Justification to data analysis
-Sample size- the number of pupils in year 2 is 44 students and thus, only 22
students will be taken as a sample because the sample must be not too large
due to difficulty in extracting data.
-using audio recording will gives clear and authentic evidence of the problems
stated. Photographs & slides provide visual evidence of pupils answers towards
written WH questions. Anecdotal records give descriptions of meaningful
incidents and events which written up immediately after it happens. It focuses on
narrative conversations between the teacher and the pupils during the teaching
and learning sessions. And lastly is journal writing which is a self-reflection
process about a lesson and in this research lessons with focus on speaking skill
and writing skill.
