Invitation to pre-qualification for an

international competition:
Art in the city square of Hamar, Norway
The city of Hamar invites artists to pre-qualification for
an International Art competition in the Main Square
of Hamar. There will be a comprehensive renewal and
re-planning of the Square, which is the citys most
important urban space. Hamar is a medium sized city
in Norway which is situated beside Mjsa, Norways
biggest lake. Artists may collaborate with landscape
architects/architects if they wish.
A central aim for the planning of the square is for
the art to play an important and significant role in the
urban space. Art with a modern, distinctive and surprising
character will be favoured. The work will play a major
role in the further planning process. It is expected that
the art project will have a budget of 5.000 000 NOK.
Deadline for submission is 28 May 2010

The period for the competition will be 25 June
24 September 2010. There will be a fee of 50.000 NOK
for each of the participants selected in the prequalification process.
