LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM 2013-2015

SEMINAR REFLECTIVE SUMMARY

SEMINAR TOPIC: Program and Leadership Qualities Overview
PARTICIPANTs NAME: Jo Ann Baker
1. What were the significant learning points for you in this seminar?
This session was the introduction to our program. Dr. Orlando J.
George, Jr., President, Dr. Mark T. Brainard, Executive Vice
President, Dr. Patricia DePlasco, SPHR, Assistant Vice President
for Human Resources and Dr. Hope W. Murray, retired were the
presenters/facilitators of the session. The learning points of this
session included the meet and greet of the Leadership
Development Class (LDP) and the mentors for each participant,
the goals and objectives of the program, the
responsibilities/expectations of participants, mentors, and
coordinator, overview of the leadership qualities, review of the
plan, and the proposed calendar of events. The significant
learning points included was the commitment of our leaders and
the passion to share their knowledge and assist in mentoring
new leadership for the College.
2. In what ways is each learning point supportive of or relevant to
your ideas about leadership?
Each learning point provides a more in-depth knowledge and
understanding of the management of Delaware Tech. I
completed the Supervisory Training Program series in 2012,
however, the LDP will expand my knowledge, resources, and
allow me to have the opportunity to meet a broader expanse of
faculty and staff through seminar activities. The commitment of
the presenters resonated passion for excellence and
opportunities to provide resources potential role development.
3. Identify a way to apply each of these learning points to your
current role at the College.
Learning new and reinforcement of previous learned/acquired
information can guide leadership characteristics in a positive
direction. Each seminar proposed provides information to assist
in understanding the bigger picture and reinforcing the mission
and vision of the College. We need to be comfortable with these
elements, to demonstrate and promote the same from our
faculty and staff.
