Religion in Education

Definition

Analogy

Religion is a lifestyle, which develops

students personal and interpersonal
relationships with each other, the
community, and God. It begins with
openness and willingness to learn and
ends with challenges, choices and the
skills and passion to continue their
journey.

Religion is living and growing.

RESource: Religious Education is at the

heart of both the formal and informal
Catholic school curriculum.
Catholic Education Office Melbourne: Our
society is both blessed and challenged by
a growing diversity of cultures and faiths.
This way of life brings much richness and
blessing, but also brings challenges that
impact on religious learning and on
maintaining a living Catholic identity.

Religion IN education has very

specifically been used as the title, as
religion is more than just a subject, it
is a life choice. Religion features in
many aspects of learning and
development, not always specifically
and solely addressed.
Religion IS academic, spiritual,
historical, affective, morality, social
justice, meaningful, practical,
understandable, mysterious, real,
flexible, assessable, individual, fluid,
and interpersonal; but it is also more
than all of these things: it is living.
