    Councilmember David Alvarez issued a statement in response to the San Diego City Council's approval to rescind the previous approval of the One Paseo project. Alvarez stated that he had moved to delay the council vote for three days to allow all parties more time to reach a compromise. He was pleased that these efforts were successful and the council's vote to rescind the original project would allow a better project that has community support to now move forward. Alvarez also credited the hard work of the Carmel Valley community for never giving up and continuing to push for a better project that would unite rather than divide the community.

    Alvarez on One Paseo Referendary Petition Vote


    SAN DIEGO (May 21, 2015) Councilmember Alvarez has issued the
    following statement in response to the San Diego City Councils approval
    today to rescind the previous approval of the One Paseo Project:
    On Monday, I moved to delay the Council vote for three days, and
    urged all parties to use the additional time to reach a compromise.
    Im pleased to announce that these efforts were successful, and by
    voting to rescind the original project, a better project that has the
    support of the community can now move forward.
    This has only been possible through the hard work of the Carmel
    Valley community. They never gave up and continued to push for a
    better project that will unite, instead of divide, the community.

    Alvarez is the Councilmember for the Eighth Council District of the City of San Diego, which includes the
    communities of Barrio Logan, Egger Highlands, Grant Hill, Logan Heights, Memorial, Nestor, Ocean View
    Hills, Otay Mesa, San Ysidro, Sherman Heights, Stockton and the Tijuana River Valley. He is currently the
    chair of the Committee on the Environment.
