Military dictators ruled Brazil for two decades. During this time they focused on economic
growth, Big projects took place in the Amazon jungle which boomed the economy.
2. What were some of the positive benefits of one-party rule in Mexico?
Life was being improved by peasants and workers. The president Nationalized the oil
industry.
3. What effect did the Falklands war have on the military government in Argentina?
Argentina went to war with Britain over the Falkland Islands. They were defeated and the
generals stepped down.

I believe that the military dictatorships in Latin America were good for the nation's
growth. Theyve provided much needed direction for the Latin American nations. Countries were
new and didnt know where to begin, many were in bad shape but when the military dictators
came to leadership they aimed them towards economic growth and recovery.
The oil industry was improved immensely while the military dictators were in power. They
improved lives of the working people by providing land reforms and giving more labor rights.
They kicked out oil industries from other nations and created a state oil company.

c. Standard of living - A level of comfort by the amount someone owns

Mexico, America, and Canada.
g. Nationalization of an industry - Remove foreign industries & replace them with your

h. Welfare state - Government that tries to provide for all its citizens needs including
health, education, and employment.
