Industrial Impact on Human Ecology and Environment : Major Impact

Introduction:

In the midth 18th century, te steam engine appeared and spread around the world. Wood
was largely replaced as a fuel by coal, which emits large quantities of air pollitants, such as
sulfur.
Population:
Some 800 million persons inhabited the planet by 1750, the year that is considered to be the
beginning of the Industrial Revolution. From this moment, populations began to grow at an
unprecedented rate.
Pollution:
It reached significants levels in some regions. Harmful subtances appeared in te air and water as
a result of industrialization. Industrial cities were commonly enveloped in a thick cloud of
smoke.
Exploitation of resources:
By this period, it was recorded that humans had caused the ecxtinction of some species. Entire
forest had been logged during this period because wood was a basic resource that had many uses.
Unregulated mining also ravaged certain areas.
