Vikings-Denmark
What Are Vikings?
Vikings were Scandinavian seafaring pirates who
raided and settled in many parts of Northwestern
Europe during the 8th -11th centuries.

How Are They Important to Danish Culture?

Vikings are important to Danish culture as they represent the difficult living
conditions dictated by nature, the governmental system, and competition among
Viking chieftains and their people. Vikings were also good traders with trade
connections all over the world. They were often invited to settle to let the local
community benefit from their trading skills. But what made Vikings stand out the
most from the rest of Europe was their strong sense of honor and
competitiveness. Death was not important to them, their reputation and their
familys reputation was the most important to them. Happiness to them meant

being remembered as well as their familys name forever after his death because of
his deeds.
