Raw Materials

The main and most important material that makes the touchscreens
work is a transparent conductive materials such as indium tin oxide
(ITO).

This film is used to create the capacitive and resistive grid networks
that capture the touch signals, without obstructing the display screen.

Other materials that are in contention to possibly replace ITO when it

has been fully consumed are graphene, copper nanowires and silver
nanowires.

Components of Touchscreens

Touchscreen sensor

- Glass panel with touch responsive surface

Controller

- Interface between sensor and display

Software Drive

- A computer program that helps user

Mechanisms of Touchscreen

Resistive system
- Two sheets are used

- By touching the screen, the sheets will come into contact and results in electrical
field variation
- This variation informs the system that touch is felt

Capacitive system
- When we touch the screen, static charge is produced and reacts with the capacitor

Surface Acoustic Wave System

- Works the help of wave energy
- A touch is transformed into other forms of energy
