The document discusses how the media product represents social groups by featuring a strong and independent female character named Hannah Balinski as the predominant figure. It aimed to represent females in a way that goes against social norms and challenges the typical portrayal of females as damsels in distress. This was achieved by presenting Hannah Balinski as a stand-alone female presence and the main protagonist, giving her a more sinister and dominant role in the opening sequence in order to surprise audiences who are not used to females being protagonists or villains.

REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS Presentation of females in our media product
WHAT WE AIMED TO DO
In our media production we aimed to represent a
social group and we achieved this by representing the stand alone female character of Hannah balinski to be a strong and indepenant female in the whole of the media production. We aimed to represent a female as the predominant figure in our production to go against the social norms and defy the patriarchal perception of the female in media products being the damsel in distress which is talked about by Propp.
HOW DID WE ACHIEVE THIS
We achieved this by presenting the character o Hanna
Balinski as a stand alone female presence. Thus defies the common stereotype in media products. By making the character on Hanna Balinski the main protagonist and giving her a more sinister and dominant role in our opening sequence, we achieve and element of surprise. This is due to the audience not expecting a female to be the main protagonist and the villain in the piece due to the constant subordinate role played by females in media products. Through our media product we defied the hegemonic ideology and represented feminine personalities as prominent and significant.
